HOW THEY ARE MADE – HAVING A BALL MAKING BALLS!

So I started making different kinds of chocolate balls and I realized that it was an extremely fun and creative experience. The chocolate balls are made using all sorts of nuts and nut/seed butters. THERE IS NO FLOUR OR CAKE INVOLVED in any stage of the process! There are no milk/dairy ingredients with the exception of the DULCE DE LECHE flavored ball and the minute amount found in the chocolate coating of each individual chocolate ball.

These delicious wonders are a pleasure to make and are even more pleasurable to consume. Each ball is handmade, the centers are mixed and rolled into balls and then they are dipped in either decadent dark chocolate or silky white chocolate. Then the decor begins and each ball is given its distinct look and character. Each ball is unique and no two are the same in appearance. They are made with LOVE.

High quality ingredients are sourced first and then the thought process begins. What to do, what to do?

The ingredients are carefully measured out and weighed on a scale, then they are combined and formed into delicious centers. The centers are then placed on a pan lined with parchment paper and rest for a few minutes before they are dipped. Chocolate is melted over a steam bath and is tempered before the centers enter on stage. Once the chocolate balls are coated, they are decorated and chilled before they make their debut on a serving dish/plate.

Each ball has that “HANDMADE” character and are perfectly imperfect… but that by no means has any impact on the taste!

The chocolate balls are best consumed chilled in my opinion, but that’s only because I particularly like ice cream and cold desserts. They by all means, can be served and consumed at room temperature. They will keep in the fridge for well over a week since I consider them as a type of confectionary and due to the lack of high-risk/spoiling ingredients, these balls remain delicious for quite some time – BUT they tend to disappear quite quickly when in the company of individuals looking for a sweet treat.

The creation of these chocolate balls requires some thought, an element of whimsy, some heart, and sometimes, a helping hand. I like to make and do things that make people happy, adding an element of joy to the mundane ordinary day, whether that be a delicious taste sensation and a moment of splendor, or just an act of kindness or simply remembering someone’s birthday and wishing them well. As an artist turned culinary artisan, currently a photographer, graphic designer and a slew of other titles all at the same time, I have an inexplicable need to create. I wake up everyday and wonder what I am going to do on that given day. It is second nature to me and I find I have the energy to go ahead with short-term or long-term ideas. I’m basically POSESSED, in the utmost positive way! I am a well wisher that firmly believes in KARMA. Positivity is where its at!

Ciao for now, positively, fellow foodies!
